Leap Year Birthday

February 29, 2008

Exactly 365 days ago, but not the same date (I’ll get to that in a second), I wrote about Parallel Dave Worlds. Although I’d like to wish Dave L. (who lives in a LOOPY world) a happy birthday, I want to focus on Dave F. who lives in a FANTASTIC world today.

You see, Dave F.’s FANTASTIC world has developed a bit of a… well, somewhat of a wormhole for lack of a better word. Dave F. celebrates his 10th birthday today. The wormhole part comes in to play when you realize that Dave F. will celebrate his 10th birthday in the same year that his daughter celebrates her 10th.

Depending on how you do the math, Dave F. is turning 40 which I am told is an important milestone. Count the number of times the man has celebrated the date of his birth, February 29th, and you get the number 10. Having a whole day to celebrate your birthday is a gift in itself when you normally celebrate in the fleeting moment between February 28th and March 1st.

Happy birthday Dave F., Dave L., and all the Leap Year-ians out there.

Thought you guys might like to knowabout a lttile do it yourself project I descovered. It’s easy, consumizable and the best part? You can get some amazingly cute new shirts. We all have those old shirts we havent gotten rid of yet we don’t like them anymore, but they still fit. (Being a girl who’s been roughly the same size since 12, I have a ton).So take those old shirts, and cut away! It’s as simple as taking a good, sharp pair of sissors, and lowering that colar the way you want it make it zigzag or rough and edgy, or smooth and sleek just the way you want it. You can turn an old tee into a cute off the shoulder top in just a few minutes. This works for all other parts of the shirt too. You want totally unique sleeves? Go for it! How about a cute crop top? The worlds your oster.Just don’t get carried away with the snip snip, or you may just destroy something you like. Practice on the least important ones first, so you can figure out what you want from each one.Hemming is suggested to avoid fraying when you wash it (unless of course you want it to look frayed), and that can easily be done via sowing machine. Have fun gurls!
