Space, Time, and Parallel Dave Worlds

March 1, 2007

This is the story of two Daves. One Dave lives in a FANTASTIC world. Lets call him Dave F. while the other Dave lives in a truly LOOPY world, lets call him Dave L..

Both Dave F. and Dave L. are celebrating birthdays this week. Dave F’s birthday is February 29th which only exists once every four years but he still seems to age like the rest of us. He apparently celebrates his birthday in the span of time between February 28th and March 1st but this span of time sometimes approaches zero which makes for a very brief celebration.

Meanwhile in LOOPY world, Dave L. celebrates birthdays non-linearly. This year he is celebrating his 126th birthday which, oddly enough, has nothing to do with his age. But if you are going to celebrate your 126th birthday, you might as well do it while you can still have a drink or two.

I imagine there are many parallel birthday Dave worlds but they can’t be any stranger than the two I know. Happy birthday gentlemen, may your worlds never collide.
